Waterman C/F
The Waterman C/F is regarded as the first production cartridge-filler pen, although that credit actually goes to an Italian company called LUS for their Atomica model. Although it’s a great pen that sold well, it was, sadly, not successful enough to rescue Waterman from their financial decline in the USA.
One well-known problem with the C/Fs today is corrosion on the gold on the plastic section near the nib. This is my third C/F, but the first that is in decent enough shape to point a camera at it… This means, however, that I have two more that can act as donors for parts and cartridges (which are difficult to find these days).
The lack of a converter and the unavailability of cartridges means that I, like other C/F users, am filling an old cartridge with a syringe. Of course, this is not difficult – but cleaning the old ink out of the cartridge was not a quick and simple process.
